Fulani Herdsmen Attack Soldiers In Agatu, Benue State

Kaduna, Warri Refineries Shut Down Over Pipeline Attack

Boko Haram Can No Longer Coordinate Attacks – Buratai Boasts

Nigeria’s chief of army staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has assured residents of the north-east that 2016 will be a more peaceful year for them because Boko Haram “can no longer coordinate any attacks”.

He gave the assurance on Thursday after his operational visits to troops locations in parts of Borno and Yobe states.

He said within the time frame given by President Muhammadu Buhari, joint forces had decimated Boko Haram and substantially destroyed its enclaves on Nigerian territory.

Kenyan Muslims Shield And Protect Christians In Mandera Bus Attack

A group of Kenyan Muslims travelling on a bus ambushed by Islamist gunmen protected Christian passengers by refusing to be split into groups, according to eyewitnesses. They told the militants “to kill them together or leave them alone”, a local governor told Kenyan media.

At least two people were killed in the attack, near the north-eastern village of El Wak on the Somali border. The Somali based al-Shabab group is the main suspect for the attack. It has not said if it was responsible, but often carries out attacks in Kenya’s north-east.

U.S. Embassy Warns Of Possible ‘Terrorism’ Attacks In Nigeria

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Embassy in Nigeria said on Friday it had received information that groups “associated with terrorism” may be planning attacks against hotels in the country that are frequented by Westerners.

In a brief message for U.S. citizens, the embassy said it had no further information regarding the timing or method of any planned attacks.

“The U.S. Mission advises all U.S. citizens to be vigilant when at hotels and around areas frequented by expatriates and foreign travelers … locations where large crowds may gather; and government facilities,” the statement said.

Armed Robbers Attack Policemen, Snatch Three AK47 Rifles

Ebonyi State Police Command Tuesday paraded nine suspects in connection with various crimes ranging from armed robbery, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms to vandalism.

Among those paraded include members of a robbery gang that operates on highways. They are; Ndubuisi Iseh, 23; Uchenna Nweke, 24, and Sunday Elom, the driver.
